Rabat — Moroccan opposition lawmaker Fatima Tamni on Sunday criticized what she described as an early and “shameless” race among political actors to position themselves for the 2026 parliamentary elections, saying the focus on future power comes despite the government’s poor performance.
Tamni, a member of parliament from the Democratic Left Federation, said in a Facebook post that political leaders were ignoring public frustration over rising living costs, weakening purchasing power and growing social inequalities.
She said the political scene continues to recycle the same figures, rhetoric and promises, even as public services deteriorate and many young people face declining prospects.
Tamni called for political and ethical accountability before any early campaign begins, arguing that the absence of responsibility and oversight allows failure to persist. She added that Moroccans were not seeking another contest for power, but policies that prioritize social justice and human dignity.
