French prosecutors have summoned Elon Musk, owner of platform X, for questioning on 20 April, the Paris public prosecutor’s office announced Tuesday.

Linda Yaccarino, former CEO of X, is also expected to appear. Prosecutors said the executives are being questioned as the “actual and legal directors” of the platform during the period when alleged violations occurred. X offices in France are currently under inspection.

The investigation, launched in early 2025 following complaints from lawmakers about algorithmic bias on X, has expanded to include suspected offences such as child sexual exploitation, deepfake sexual content, and Holocaust denial. Additional X employees are set to be questioned between 20–24 April 2026.

Prosecutors noted that voluntary questioning allows executives to present their position and outline measures to comply with regulations if needed.
