Labour market data for 2025 show that economic activity remains heavily concentrated in a limited number of regions, with five areas accounting for just over 72% of the active population aged 15 and above, according to official figures.

Casablanca–Settat holds the largest share, representing more than one-fifth of the active workforce, followed by Rabat–Salé–Kenitra and Marrakesh–Safi. Fez–Meknes and Tangier–Tetouan–Al Hoceima also feature prominently, the High Commission for Planning said.

Participation rates exceeded the national average of 43.5% in four regions, led by Tangier–Tetouan–Al Hoceima and the southern regions, while lower levels of activity were recorded in parts of central and eastern Morocco.

Unemployment is similarly concentrated, with around 72% of job seekers located in five regions. Casablanca–Settat alone accounts for roughly a quarter of the total, while Fez–Meknes and Rabat–Salé–Kenitra follow.

Joblessness was highest in the southern and eastern regions, as well as in Fez–Meknes and Casablanca–Settat, while Marrakesh–Safi, Drâa–Tafilalet and Tangier–Tetouan–Al Hoceima reported the lowest unemployment rates, the data showed.
